To assure consistency in our basic latex compound, we purchase only the best available raw materials. Then we screen each ingredient to verify conformance with the specifications we have set. A series of in-process tests continously monitor manufacturing conditions for comparison with our rigorous standards - electronic meters on our drying unit, for example, ensure constant drying conditions. For precise quality control of the finished product, a computerized analysis is made for compression rating; a flex-tester guards against irregularities in the cured latex; an impact tester assures the durability and integrity of each finished core. These new manufacturing techniques were pioneered in our large, modern, fully-automated facility. HOW LATEXFOAM IS MANUFACTURED:

^1.^{Latex rubber is a milky
white liquid consisting of minute rubber particles dispersed in water. It
is whipped into foam, electronically weighed, then automatically dispensed
into a mold by a mechanical robot.}

^{2. After the aluminum mold is hydraulically
closed, an electronic timer controls the various steps to convert the foam
to its final, permanently-vulcanized shape. In the mold, thousands of aluminum
core pins transfer curing heat into the foam. As a result, thousands of pin-core
air channels enable natural ventilation of the final product.}

^{3.
When the automatic curing cycle is
complete, the wet foam mattress is stripped out of the mold and immediately
delivered to the washing unit. Here, four banks of weirs cascade hundreds
of gallons of cleansing water, per minute, over each core. High pressure
rollers squeeze each core to flush away any residual soaps and bring each
core to a semi-dry state.}

The washed cores then enter a
steam-heated, pressure-circulated, hot-air ofven for drying. Optimum drying
conditions, in this 120' long unit, are accurately mantained throughout this
critical stage using electronic monitors.}

^{5.
After fresh-air cooling, each mattress
is individually classified for degree of firmness. An in-line IBM computer
reads data measured by electronic load cells and then rates compression of
the mattress core according to Rubbger Manufacturers Association standards.}

^{6. Manufacturing process and conditions
are carefully monitored through visual, as well as aautomated inspection
tests during the entire cycle. Samples from each lot then undergo complete
testing for flexibility and durability. For example, to measure the equivalent
of ten years of use, our impact tester subjects each sample to more than
15,000 impacts during its 24-hour test period.}
